Worked example: Brand teal from a print PDF to CSS

A café brand guide listed a teal as C72 M12 Y35 K8. The web team needed HEX for the website header. Converting via the closest RGB approximation produced a HEX they could paste into CSS. They compared it next to the printed napkin under shop lights and nudged the HEX because print and screen gamuts differ — the converter is arithmetic, not a spectrophotometer.

They also copied the `hsl()` form for a hover state that lightened lightness by 8% without leaving the hue.

Limitations

CMYK to RGB is a gamut conversion with assumptions. It is not ICC-aware colour management unless you bring profiles (this tool does not).
HEX `#rgb` vs `#rrggbb` vs `#rrggbbaa` (alpha) can be confused.
Named CSS colours (`rebeccapurple`) are a small set; most brand colours are not names.
Accessibility contrast is a different check; a pretty colour can still fail WCAG against white.

When not to use Color Converter

Do not certify print jobs from a web HEX. Use a colour-managed workflow.
Medical or safety colour codes (wiring, hazard) must follow the standard, not a ‘close enough’ picker.
If you need OKLCH perceptual tweaks, use a design tool that supports that space.
